Visiting Kenya: Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

The first day of the tour we visited the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, which was open only for an hour each day for visitors to watch them feed the baby elephants.  We all crowded around the watering hole where they got their mud baths, drank water and were fed their baby formula.  The founder has been featured in "60 Minutes" segments, and the costs of our visits helps to fund the orphanage.  Briefly touched one of the small elephants but for the most part you need to keep your distance or be ready for your own mud bath.  Great fun to watch.

The youngest get fed more bottles of formula, and a couple "begged" for additional bottles.
