After a couple days in Nairobi, we left the area for a drive of several hours to Samburu. Here are a few photos shot along the way.
roadside stands with vegies...in a potato growing region.
market day...lots of mangos..
another market day...
Unexpected stop for lunch....
beautiful location and good food.
Turns out the stop had a second purpose...we were at the equator.
People left wishes and messages on the "globe." This was my second time on the equator. Was at Mitad Del Mundo (middle of the world) in Ecuador a number of years ago.
As we came closer to the game reserve, ran across more folks in traditional garb.
Like many tribes, this one was nomadic, so their houses were intended to last some 7 years before they moved on for better grazing areas. As more of them settle down in one place, they're starting to build more permanent structures of wood and cement.
